Introducing Candor

Izam Ryan's independent company: a return on AI that can be evidenced, tooling of its own making, and the software built on it.

What Candor is

Candor is my independent company. I am a Fellow Chartered Accountant, PwC-trained. I spent ten years across transactions and advisory, latterly running financial due diligence engagements end to end for private equity and corporate acquirers as an employee. Candor is where I build now.

Two kinds of work happen here. The first is helping UK mid-market businesses whose peers are pulling ahead get a return on AI they can evidence. That means reading what a business sells, who holds the power, how the work gets done and what that does to the numbers, with the working shown. The second is software, described below.

How the work is done

Everything I do runs on tooling I have built myself and use wholesale. The raw data is never altered. Every figure in a working paper traces back to the record it came from, and every conclusion has its working attached. AI does the reading, the reconciling and the first draft. I do the judgement.

That is not a marketing position. It is the rule I apply to any AI a business relies on - never delegate what you cannot reperform (re-perform: a second person can repeat the work and get the same answer) - and it is the reason the software exists.

What sits alongside it

The same tooling supports a small number of software products in development. They are early, and each will be introduced here when it is ready. They share one idea with the rest of the work: reveal what is true about an asset, and show the working.

What follows

This site will carry my thinking in the open: what I learn in the work, the technical decisions behind the tooling, and the honest state of the products. The first of those posts follow over the coming weeks.

Updated 7 October 2026: the description of the work was revised to match what Candor does now.

Updated 8 October 2026: the positioning now reads: “I help UK mid-market businesses whose peers are pulling ahead get a return on AI they can evidence.”
